Committees

These are the committees defined within The Chicago Tax Club. Click the view members link or the committee name to see a list of committee members. Officers of the Chicago Tax Club are chosen by the Nominating Committee and elected by members.
Board of Directors
Chosen by the Nominating Committee, the Board of Directors are involved members of the Chicago Tax Club including Chairs of Committees and other active volunteers.
Admissions
Admissions is responsible for processing and monitoring membership applications. Admissions ensure membership requirements have been met by applicants and issues final approval. Committee membership traditionally comes from the more experienced members, such as past Officers, Directors, and Chairpersons.
Employment
The Employment Committee assists unemployed Club members find compatible tax positions through networking with other unemployed members. The committee has periodic meetings to exchange information on available job openings of Club member companies as well as other potential employment opportunities. The committee consists of a chairperson and currently unemployed Club members.
Fall Seminar
This committee runs the Club's largest annual event, a two day concurrent session seminar. A great deal of planning, coordinating and preparation of materials and facilities is required. Mandatory participation on this committee is required of all Club committee chairpersons. However, membership is also open to the Club's membership at large.
Federal Tax
The Federal Tax Committee is one of the five committees which deal with the technical skills of the Club's members. This committee is responsible for providing a speaker at each regular meeting and the summer seminar, plus several speakers at the fall seminar. Committee members also serve as moderators for each of the speakers they provide. Membership of the committee is from the Club's membership at large.
Indirect & Operational
This technical committee is responsible for providing a speaker at each regular meeting and the summer seminar, plus several speakers at the fall seminar. Committee members also serve as moderators for each of the speakers. Membership of the committee is from Club's membership at large.
International Tax
This technical committee is responsible for providing a speaker at each regular meeting and the summer seminar, plus several speakers at the fall seminar. Committee members also serve as moderators for each of the speakers. Membership of the committee is from Club's membership at large.
Legal
This committee reviews all contracts that The Chicago Tax Club is a party to, and presents its findings and recommendations to the Board of Directors. It also serves as legal advisor to the Board when requested. Membership of the committee is from the Club's members who are attorneys.
State Income & Franchise
This technical committee is charged with providing a speaker at each regular meeting and summer seminar, plus several speakers at the fall seminar. Committee members also serve as moderators for each of the speakers. Membership of the committee is from the Club's membership at large.
Tax Admin/Technology/Ethics
This technical committee is concerned with designing programs and providing speakers for selected sessions dealing with the administration of tax departments of private business and non-profit organizations. Computerization and quality management topics are examples of these sessions. Committee members also serve as moderators for each of the speakers they provide. Membership of this committee is from the Club's membership at large.
Winter Meeting/May Meeting
An annual Winter event is organized and coordinated by this committee. The May meeting is held in conjunction with COST. In addition to planning and scheduling the event, the committee is responsible for preparing meeting notices, handling registrations, selling raffle tickets, and assembling and distributing prizes. Membership of the committee is from the Club's membership at large. Experience and continuity are important to this committee; therefore, membership tends to be long-term.
The purpose of the Young Professionals Group (YPG) is to connect and engage the future of the tax profession. The YPG will host various events throughout the year geared towards technical training, developing career skills and networking with peers. Joining the YPG is a great way for those just starting their tax career to get involved and grow the diverse Chicago tax community.
Public Relations
This committee handles all Club publicity, such as sending out press releases on meetings and appointment of members to Club offices and committee leadership. In addition, it is responsible for photographing officers and directors for the directory, as well as the photographing of members' activities at meetings and special events.
Vendor

Speakers
As a complement to the activities of the chairpersons of the technical committees in providing speakers in their respective specialties, the Speakers Committee works with the chairpersons and coordinates the providing of luncheon speakers at the Club's regular meetings, summer and fall seminars, and other events as appropriate. Membership of the committee is from the Club's membership at large.

CPE / CLE
This committee is responsible for issuing CPE and CLE certificates.
